How to become strong in Indian economics- Shanti from Delhi

Question:

Hello Mr.Mishra, I am Shanti from Delhi. I have completed my B.E with 80 percent. Basically I am weak in economics and this is what is stopping me from clearing the written exams. I have completed 6 exams and haven’t cleared a single exam. Should I study from any books or is it enough to go through the daily newspaper. Please help me sir.

Reply from Author:

From a Technical graduate point of view I clearly understand your problem. Economics isn’t a completely strange topic to you like your engineering design or Circuit designing. Right from child hood you have been a part of this Economic society, but the thing is that you are not able to relate the Economic terms with what you have experienced. So relax yourself and shred away the jinxes you have about Economics.
My suggestions to you
1.Check our Economic terms help section. You can get easy and clear definitions over here.
2.Read News papers for the first few days and even if you read one article from Economy section it’s enough provided you make sure you know each and every term in that article.
3.Prepare a list of terms learnt and read them before the exam
4.Send me your Queries. I will answer them (but it might take a couple of days ), send the mail with a subject line ***Help needed – Economics***
5.Finally read all the NCERT books (related to Economics)

How to prepare for the Bank Exams- Vipin from Hyderabad

Question:

Sir, I am Vipin from Hyderabad and I am doing my final year B.Tech. I am planning to start writing bank exams from this year onwards and I have a few queries regarding this.

1) Am I eligible to write the bank exams as I am still in my final year.
2) If yes, how should I prepare for the Probationary officer exam. Please consider the fact that I am still in college and have very little time to prepare. Please provide me the tips to use my time effectively and prepare for the exams.“

Reply from Author:

I am very happy that you have started your preparation at a very early stage. You have taken the right decision at the right time. Since most exam results will take days to be declared. Please do not waste your time to finish your Degree. There are cases when Banks will allow final year students but they will be required to submit provisional certificate when requested.
Being in college is not a disadvantage but an advantage as you will have ample time with no worries about earning and supporting your family. Your technical back ground will make you an apt candidate for a Probationary officer

  1. Aptitude section (numerical)
  2. General Awareness (daily news for the past 6 months will suffice)
  3. Utilize your college library for the above said features and hope you will have lots of free time in your Project hours which you can utilize for this.

Resume- Your Visa to a better Job

A resume is simply a mirror of your personality and your accomplishments. For a recruiter both you and your mirror image (Resume) should look good and in sync. So, it calls for much attention and care when you start preparing it. Writing a resume is no rocket science. On the other hand, it’s not a child’s play too. I would describe it as a hard nut to crack but with the right approach you can prepare an excellent resume which will boost up your chances of impressing your Employer.

Having an effective and attractive resume can greatly improve your chances of landing in your dream job. A survey conducted by a group of students from the Harvard University clearly depicts that students felt comfortable when their resumes were good. And they were a bit tensed uncomfortable and had butter flies in their stomach when they had their resumes not equipped properly. So, the bottom line is how does one make sure that his resume is top notch and bullet proof? Here are some useful tips. Get the maximum out of it.

What Resume are you preparing?
Many of you might be aware that there are two types of resumes. They are Chronological and Functional resumes. Chronological is used more widely used and they exhibit information on our past and present educational/professional experience in a chronological order.Click here for a sample resume.

Functional on the other hand, expresses skills and abilities rather than expressing experiences. This category is used mainly by employed person who seek a job change. Click here for a sample resume of this category.

Know the purpose of your Resume:
First and foremost thing is to is to analyze the purpose of preparing the resume. Some people write a resume as if the purpose of the document was to land a job. The objective of your resume is to grab your employer’s attention and to stand out of the rest to finally land in an interview, and that interview will only land you a job. Hence, always prepare a resume with the proper clarity and remember that it’s just the first step. So make use of your First step to make a strong foundation.

Make Use of Power Words
Next important point is to connect your technical abilities and qualifications with the job requirement by backing them up with strong words. Usage of effective titles plays an important role in resume preparation. Try to be as descriptive as possible, giving the employer a good idea about the nature of your past work experiences or your academic credentials.

Project your best part:
Never forget to put the most important information first. In addition to this when describing your experiences or skills, list the most important ones first. Don’t forget to explain the benefits of your skills. Merely stating that you can do something will not catch the attention of the employer. If you manage to explain how it will benefit his company, and to connect it to tangible results, then you will greatly improve your chances. Above all don’t forget that you are here to sell your fish. Remember that you are trying to sell yourself. As long as you don’t go over the edge, all the marketing efforts that you can put in your resume will give you an advantage over the other candidates.

Last Minute Check:
Be sure to proof read your resume before you submit them. Proofreading it once is not enough, so do it twice, three times or until you are sure of 100% correctness.

Interview- The final battle

An Interview is just a structured meeting between you and an employer. Any Profession is full of challenges and Interviews are conducted simply to judge if you can face those challenges. Based on the Job requirement there may be a

Technical Round -> HR Round
Technical Round 1->Technical Round with a Project/Team leader-> HR
