South Indian Bank exam performance- Joshua from Cochin

Question:

Sir, I am Joshua from Cochin. Last Sunday I completed the South Indian Bank exam. I think I’ll get 60 percent in quans & reasoning. I haven’t performed well in general awareness and i guess that I’ve answered just 40 percent of the question. What are my chances of clearing the exams?. I fall into OBC community. Expecting your reply.

Reply from Author:

 Dear Joshua,
You just attended 40% of the questions in General Awareness!!!!!!!!!!
I am very sad that our friends are doing this repeatedly. Kindly make sure that you answer all the Questions unless there is a Negative mark for wrong answers. You can even apply a little bit of your General awareness Skills in answering GK questions as in a particular question atleast one of the choices will be absurd , so now you are left with just 3 choices and you should take up your chances now.

As you are a OBC candidate your chances of getting in tot the next level is bright, but you haven’t mentioned how much you have answered correctly in the General Awareness Section. Lets hope for the Best

What is meant by Cash reserve ratio and Repo rate?

Question:

Sir, I am unable to understand certain economic terms like “Cash Reserve Ratio” and “Repo rate”. Can you please explain them. Yamini from Delhi “

Reply from Author:

I am happy to help you at the same time Please read our Banking terms Help materials

Cash reserve ratio:
This is also known as cash asset ratio or liquidity ratio. If a particular bank receives 100 Rs then it will decide on the percentage of amount it should hold and the percent of amount it should lend out. The rest should be deposited to the RBI. This ratio is known as CRR

Repo Rate:
Ok now you know that the banks lend out some money to us for loans and what if the banks suddenly fall short of money?
They will borrow it from RBI. The rate at which the banks borrow rupees from the RBI is called as Repo Rate. If the Repo rate is low Banks will get funds cheaply and if Rate is high then thee banks will get the money at higher interest and ultimately end users will get it at a higher interest rate.
Hope this clarifies.

Time management in Bank exams- Subha, Mumbai

Question:

Sir, I am unable to complete the bank exams properly i.e I couldn’t manage the time properly. Can you provide me some tips on time management when writing a bank exam. Subha- Mumbai

Reply from Author:

It’s not an uncommon problem Subha. Let me help you with some golden Rules.
1.Every Bank exam has a different pattern, so get used to the different patterns by looking at Previous year Bank question papers. We have a separate section for that and you can see it here.
2.Now after going through it please practice it at least twice and identify which section takes you a lot of time
3.Answer to all known questions at first , but don’t forget to answer all the questions by the end (if there are no negative marks)
4.Be cool and calm before the exam starts, after all you are not the only one subjected to this pressure situation. Just look around and you can see 100’s of similar faces and this will ease your tension.

5.Now with all your hard work and clean mind you can finish your Questions in time and have a recheck if possible. Wish you success in your next attempt.

Will I clear KVB exams- Suresh from Coimbatore

Question:

Suresh, Coimbatore- Sir, will I clear the KVB exams? I think I’ll score around 55 percent in all sections. I fall into OBC category. Please reply sir. Awaiting for your response.

Reply from Author:

If you come under the SC/ST category you could have cleared the exams easily. The number of persons who attended KVB exams is very huge and there are chances that you might be on the losing end.
Do not be disheartened, my sincere advice is to learn and prepare hard and not to depend much on the Caste category benefits as they depend much on how other candidates perform and many other factors. Please start working on your less skilled areas and go through our website for sample question papers and Banking term definitions.

How to get a management job- Sourabh from Kolkatta

Question:

Sir, I am Sourabh from Kolkatta. I am doing my MBA and want to get a management job in a private bank. I would be extremely thankful if you please help me up with that

Reply from Author:

Kumar’s question has an answer for other MBA aspirants. MBA’s are really preferred for management job and not for other entry level jobs. For some specialized areas like Agriculture, Systems, IT, Credit, Finance, you guys are in huge demand and remember it’s only you guys who bring in the business where as other staffs just run the business.
So Kumar, start collecting management oriented Question Papers and then start preparing them. You can get them from our Bank Question Papers section itself. Once you are done with some question papers. You can ask me for further steps as one action at a time will be good.

Should technical graduates be allowed to write bank exams?- Abhishek from Gurgaon

Question:

Sir, I am Abhishek from Gurgaon. I have completed my B.Sc Maths and am trying hard to enter into the banking sector. But I am unable to clear the exam since there is a huge competition for the bank jobs. This is mainly because of there are a lot of people who complete technical degrees like B.E and B.Tech and still apply for bank jobs.

I believe that bank jobs aren’t meant for those people and they must pursue their career in their respective fields. What do you think about this sir?“

Reply from Author:
Visit any of the banks at Gurgaon and you can find technology and Engineering in every Banking Operation, That is why banks are now compelled to look for candidates whose skills are more than conventional banking skills. You have a clear advantage over other candidates in written examinations. So I think it is not correct to point fingers at B.E candidates (who are in fact afraid of your mathematical skills .The only place where you have to concentrate is your Technical skills which will be analyzed by the interviewers.
I would suggest you to read some NCERT books for Computer and simultaneously get accustomed to Basic Windows and Microsoft operating principles.
